Iced tea is a popular soft drink, especially in summer. Traditionally, iced tea is prepared with hot black tea, which is quickly cooled and flavored with lemon juice and sugar. There are now numerous versions of the iced tea. In addition to various types of tea such as green, fruit or herbal tea, the iced tea is combined with various fruit juices or seasoned with herbs such as peppermint. Most people buy iced tea as a ready-made drink or as an instant powder. These products usually contain a large amount of sugar and citric acid and are therefore considered harmful to health. Excessive consumption of iced tea can also promote the formation of kidney stones and lead to tooth decay, obesity and, as a result, diabetes. (vb)
